Our adventure begins!

Our adventure has officially begun.  We had a surprisingly delightful flight here.  The kids were perfect angels on both flights.  I'm not sure what was possessing them at the time but I was grateful.  Our boat was docked at Lew and Teresa's neighbor's house.   When we arrived I began to unpack and "move in" our stuff.  I realized, to my horror, that I had forgotten to pack "Kitty" - Evan's lovey that he has slept with every single night of his life.  Thanks to my friend and house sitter, Vicky (and her husband Larry), Kitty is on his way to Virginia via Federal Express.  All should be right in the world tomorrow.

We had a wonderful day of motor sailing.  We left Virginia Beach this morning and sailed into Norfolk, where we'll stay for two nights.  We are now docked at Waterside Marina.  I have some great photos of our day, but blogger is doing maintenance and won't upload my pictures.  This is annoying to say the least.  It's taking a little adjustment to get into boating mode for me.  I'm there for a while, then get super annoyed (like now, at Blogger).  Hopefully I can reclaim my inner type B and continuously utter the phrase "it's all good" like my dear husband.

Tomorrow we are going to Nauticus, a nautical themed children's museum.  It's just a short walk from the marina.  There's an old battleship there we can climb aboard, so it should be fun.  Across from the marina is a downtown park with sprinklers for the kids to play in.  They had a great time this afternoon running around them.  Even Ryan got in on the action.  I hope to post pictures tomorrow, I got some really cute ones.

The kids have finally drifted off to sleep (hopefully).  At home they go to sleep nicely in their own rooms.  On the boat they share a cabin and after I put them to bed they tend to talk, giggle, and play.  I have been allowing them to indulge in this, but they take it way too far and someone (usually Evan) ends up crying.  So I'm cracking down on them now.  I just discovered is that I left my reading glasses (along with the nice case they came in) on the plane.  I'm not usually this ditzy to forget things, so I'm really annoyed with myself.  At some point I'm going to have to get some new glasses.  But now I just need to relax and little and unwind.  Tomorrow I'll get my boat groove on.
