Croaker Festival

We checked out the croaker festival yesterday.  Croaker is a fish, for those of you who don't know.  I almost croaked from the heat, but since we were docked all day there was no way I could wreck the boat.  That in itself made it a very, very good day.

The kids enjoyed the obstacle course, the bounce house, and the slide.

The Croaker Regatta was going on behind us.

Zachary was quite happy to be on dry land!

Afterwards, we went back to the boat to play.  We are on the face dock of the marina, just inside the breakwater.  There are boats packed in here from end to end, and lots and lots (I mean LOTS) of boats anchored in the harbor.  They were all here for the fireworks.  The fireworks were just behind us over the bridge.  We had a primo spot for watching them.

Evan was happy to discover what a playground the boat really is.

Zachary taught Evan how to hang from the vang (which they both call the bang, which cracks me up).
Zachary loves to swing from the boom.

We posed for another family portrait.

Zachary figured out how to climb on the boom.  This is his special spot where he watched the fireworks.

The kids were up very late watching the fireworks with us, but it was a spectacular show.  I asked Ryan where the music was, and he replied that it wasn't Disney World and they didn't have speakers everywhere.  That, of course, put the Disney song in my head from the Dreams Come True show.  We had a nice night.  The harbor was beautiful as it twinkle with hundreds of anchor lights from boats.  We wanted to take pictures, but the humidity was so high it fogged up the lens and the camera wouldn't work.

Evan was up at 5:45 a.m., to no one's amazement.  Today we are taking it easy.  I think tomorrow we'll leave for Morehead City or Beaufort.  Ryan's watching for a weather window so we can head offshore.
